Skardu is a town located in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of
northern Pakistan. It's surrounded by the stunning Karakoram
Range, making it a hub for adventure tourism and
mountaineering. Skardu is often referred to as the gateway to
some of the world's highest peaks, including K2, the
second-highest mountain on Earth.
The town offers wonderful landscapes with towering mountains,
serene lakes, and lush valleys. It's a popular destination for
trekkers, climbers, and nature lovers. The nearby Shangrila
Resort, also known as "Heaven on Earth," is a major attraction
with its scenic beauty and recreational facilities.
The Balti culture and cuisine are also prominent in Skardu.
The local people are known for their warm hospitality and
unique traditions. Skardu can be accessed by air through the
Skardu Airport, or by road from other major cities in
Pakistan. The best time to visit is during the summer months
when the weather is relatively mild and the mountain passes
are accessible.
